I touched the rim! Posted by Sean

It was bound to happen, I mean I am pretty awesome. It turned out to be a lot easier than I expected. Pretty much all I was missing was real shoes. Contrary to popular belief flip flops suck for dunking, or any basketball activities for that matter. I suppose thats why you dont see more hippies playing the game, the exception being our beloved Canadian pictured to the left. Speaking of that, Id just like to say that I miss him already. And dont you even think about coming back around NBA. I am done with you. My previous letter to you still stands. You are no longer welcome in my house. I will see how I feel when October comes back around, but right now I am bitter. Hell hath no furry like a woman scorned. Except in this case the woman is an angry Suns fan..

But back to the real point of this story. I actually got my fingers around the rim all the way to the knuckle. That means if I actually do my training regimen (No I have not started yet..), windmill dunks from the freethrow line are pretty much right around the corner.

Fueled by current events, namely the NBA Playoffs , Jesse and I have decided to embark on one of the most important adventures of our relatively short lives (I say relatively because Jesse did already hit the 30 mark..). We have decided that we will train ourselves to become world class athletes…. actually not really, we pretty much just want to dunk a ball and then we will go back to our slackass ways. Sure it will be tough, but with the right training regimen, and perhaps a bit of help from the *experts we will meet our goal. It is interesting to note that other nerds have tried and seemingly failed, but where others have floundered, we will prevail. Here are the rules as they are known today:

  • Jesse’s goal is to dunk on a 9 foot rim. Why the cop out you ask? Well, his blog is named a foot and a half and that isnt a reference to his unit…
  • I will dunk on a regulation 10 foot hoop, this is because I am 10 times better than Jesse and also more handsome.
  • Both of us will use a regulation size 29.5 inch basketball, purchased from Walmart.
  • This goal must be completed by end of Summer 2007.
  • No aides can be used during the dunk. This means no trampolines or jumping off of Liang’s back. Its our feet leaving the ground and our hands putting the ball in the basket.

Other than that anything goes. Its whatever it takes to get way the hell up there. In the end all that will really matter is that we dunk…. well that and the satisfaction of Teabagging the crap out of J.R. as he stands under the rim..

Please stay tuned for weekly updates on how close we are to reaching this goal.

*Please note that I do not consider dunknow to be anything more than a scam and will not be purchasing their product. Well, atleast not until late August when I can still barely touch the rim.
